“Overall great first experience trying African cuisine. Very bold flavours lots of spice. They had a handwashing ceremony in the beginning, really immersing you in the culture. Opening bite was nice texture wise and combined beef with plantain, very unique. Especially loved the caviar with goat cashew paste and beef tongue. Only complaint is that it took a really long time 20 minutes maybe? For the main to come out…”

I can sing praises on the dishes, with standouts being the jollof rice which was so rich, and the black sesame fudge at the end - a chefs kiss of velvety, nutty delight! Highly recommended”

“Akoko was my second Michelin star restaurant that I had booked during my recent trip to London. I had never had West African cuisine before but had heard great things about this restaurant so was excited to try it out! I had a reservation for 7pm at the chefs counter on a Wednesday night and when I arrived the restaurant was fairly busy. The chefs counter seating was amazing and if you can get a seat I highly recommend it. Watching the dishes get plated and the interaction between all the chefs was a great experience. The menu is tasting menu only and I decided to go with the Akoko pairing. This consisted of 2 wines (a white and red), 2 cocktails and a beer (this was a stout and I wasn’t a huge fan). All of the courses were delicious but I think my favourite was the tartar starter, the red mullet and the white chocolate dessert. The service was amazing and all of the staff we so knowledgable and friendly. As a solo diner I felt really well looked after and welcome. Overall I would give the restaurant 4.5 stars. There were a couple of dishes/items that I felt like just needed a tiny bit more salt, although the flavours were fantastic and interesting. I have already recommended this place to friends and would gladly visit again.”

The food was exquisite - the mix of flavours really enchanted our taste buds and took our senses on a culinary journey. Spectacular! The service was also on point and harmonious. “I have no experience of West African food so this was a leap into the unknown and one of faith. The staff were all lovely and always helpful and friendly. The food was just lovely and each course gave us a different set of flavours. It was cleverly spiced to warm not too hot. I enjoy spicy food and this was just lovely encounter a new spectrum of tastes.”
